Information this site collects

The site has no forms and no accounts. It collects two kinds of information:

• What you send me. If you email me, I receive your name, your email address and whatever you include in your message.
• What your browser sends automatically. When you visit, the site records which pages you view, how you arrived, the type of device and browser you use, and your approximate location based on your IP address.

How the information is used

I use this information to see which pages are useful, to improve the site, to keep it secure and to answer your emails.

I do not sell your information. I do not share it with anyone for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see how pages are used. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. The site does not use advertising cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also stop Google Analytics from recording your visits with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Services that process information for this site

A few outside services help run the site. Each one receives some technical information, such as your IP address, to do its job:

• Google Analytics measures visits. Google’s privacy policy
• Cloudflare delivers the site quickly and protects it from attacks. Cloudflare’s privacy policy
• Adobe Fonts supplies the fonts you see. Adobe’s privacy policy
• Wordfence protects the site from attacks and logs suspicious activity. Wordfence’s privacy policy
• The web host stores the site and keeps standard server logs.

How long information is kept

Google Analytics keeps detailed visit data for 2 months. Summary reports, which do not identify individual visitors, are kept longer. Server and security logs are kept for a short period and then deleted. Emails are kept as long as they are needed for the conversation or for business records.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it or ask me to delete it. Send your request to [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, and I will honor them.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Pages on this site link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
